Charity Evening in Support of the Teal House Foundation June, 2 19.00 A Pebble In The Road by Ingeborga Dapkunaite Performed by Ingeborga Dapkunaite Directed by Simon Stokes Q&A with special guest John Malkovich TR Warszawa, Marszałkowska 8, Warsaw Language: English This charity evening marks the second anniversary of the Teal House Foundation and coincides with International Children’s Day. Founded in Warsaw in 2022 by Karolina Gruszka and Ivan Vyrypaev, Teal House supports artists in exile and promotes cultural integration through art. All proceeds from the event will go toward the foundation’s Theater Studio for Children and Teenagers — a space where young people from different countries can rediscover safety, creativity, and belonging. The studio is led by professional artists in exile and helps children process their experiences through theatre, music, and collective play. By supporting this evening, audiences help keep the studio alive — and give displaced children a chance to find joy, voice, and community. A Pebble In The Road by Ingeborga Dapkunaite Performed by Ingeborga Dapkunaite Directed by Simon Stokes A Pebble In the Road is Ingeborga’s haunting, joyful and evocative recounting of one Eastern European family and their stories. The family have always celebrated a Lithuanian Christmas in their own singular way, through wars and occupations, through state proscriptions and essential secrecies under the Soviet Union and through the euphoria of a hard-won independence. Before each Christmas supper a formal wish or prayer or toast is offered – Let there be no fewer of us around this table next year. Telling of the shared continuity of life, death and fragmented memory, the play conjures up with wit and insight, horror and humour, the fraught and fractured history of eastern Europe - a story which is playing out once again with far-reaching consequences. Simon Stokes Simon spent twelve years as Artistic Director at the Bush Theatre, London in 1970’s and 80’s and was Artistic Director at Theatre Royal Plymouth 1998 – 2018. He was an Artistic Director and Director of Development for Howard Panter at the Turnstyle Group in the 1980s and 90s, developing new plays for theatres in London’s West End.
